Heggie’s pizza never disappoints. This is the go to brand for a lot of dive bars in my Midwest hometown. This is my kid’s favorite and I’ve never once heard a single soul complain about being served a Heggie’s pizza!

We picked up the Heggies Italian Beef Thin Crust Pizza at Costco in a two pack for $17.99, which works out to about nine bucks per pizza. For a frozen pizza with real toppings, that already feels fair. And since past Heggies pizzas have treated us well, grabbing this one was a no brainer. This one bakes at 450 degrees for about 19 to 22 minutes. Ours was perfect at 20. The edges started browning early, so we kept an eye on it and finished it on a baking sheet to get the cheese just how we like it. Slightly toasty in the center, not pale. Now let’s talk toppings. The beef is not crumbles. It’s sliced, almost shaved, like something you’d get on a Philly sandwich. That alone makes it feel different from most frozen pizzas. It’s tender, flavorful, and a little juicy in the best way. There are also sweetie drop peppers and a blend of mozzarella and provolone. You definitely get a little kick here and there. Not overwhelming, but enough that your lips might tingle a bit. It keeps things interesting. The overall flavor surprised me. In a strange but good way, it reminds me of a hearty vegetable beef soup poured onto a thin crust. That rich beefy tomato flavor with little bits of vegetables mixed in. It sounds odd, but it works. The crust is classic Heggies. Thin, crisp, sturdy. It holds the toppings without sagging and gives you that satisfying crunch in every bite. If you like bold toppings and something a little different than standard pepperoni, this Italian beef pizza is absolutely worth trying. I’m honestly glad we have another one in the freezer.
